new cologne, new relationships

scent is in my opinion the strongest of the senses by far.
my tumblr to blogspot would be what scent to vision is for me.

we attribute scents to very specific memories--people, places, times..
my best friend's old house, my mom's favorite lotion, a guy--one whiff and i'm back there in that moment, if only for an instant.

chloe's perfume has been a longtime staple of mine--most of my girlfriends have told me that anytime they smell it they think of me. there aren't a lot of things in this world that truly make me feel different when i try them--new clothes, fresh nails, new makeup...these things don't cut it in this aspect. it's a new haircut, or a new bottle of perfume that really sets a different mentality for me.

the thing with perfumes is that no perfume smells the same on a given person. "light blue" smells really different on my sister than i ever remember it smelling on anyone else. i think that's just one example of maybe why scents create / bring back such strong memories.

i'll always love chloe and can always go back to it,
but change every now and then is good thing.

in search of a new perfume.

back to normal

last week was a little stressful.with the whole neighbors drama, having to do taxes, a sore ankle, a major work deadline, and a couple personal things, come friday all i wanted to do was stay home.

and so i did.

but a girl can only stay in for so long, and i get cabin fever pretty easily.

danced it off saturday night and i'm feeling so much better.
although i risked making something worse before it got better, it was worth it.

cheers to a lighter heart, and a new week.

your hair is your biggest accessory

or so they say?

i can't remember the last time my hair was "short."

it's -always- been long, because it's always looked good long. but the real reason is that it's always been comfortable---long.

what am i so scared of?

hair grows.

i know you're not supposed to mess with a good thing, but i need change, and painting my nails another shade doesn't seem enough.

so i'm cutting my hair.

my new hobby

i bought a new camera.

i don't know much about photography, but i know that i like it. so in efforts to pursue something that i like further, i did some research on cameras, and decided on Olympus' e-pl2.

i looked at a bunch of camera's including canons, nikons, panasonics, and a couple others. but at the end of the day, this is the one that i chose, mostly because of the big screen, and improvements in video mode, including the easy shoot button and art filters available while shooting. i decided that i want to record more of my life, and spend the time to make them into movies that i can always cherish and remember.

i feel like my years in new york thus far have been somewhat of a blur, the last two especially. but i finally feel alive, and i want to embrace it now more than ever.

can't wait to start shooting (still waiting on my sd card to come in the mail). i've always been more of a visual person, which is why i prefer tumblr over blogspot, but who knows where this will go - all i know is that i'm excited. stay tuned.
