Snippets from the Oscars

no matter how hard i try i always end up sleeping late on sundays.
at least tonight i had a legit reason.

the oscars were pretty good this year. anne hathaway is so gorgeous but to be honest i'm not sure i liked her as the host. she seemed somewhat drunk, and wasn't as classy as i thought she'd be tonight. james franco...is good looking? he was sorta boring... they weren't AWFUL together, just thought that they were whatever.

and throwing an f-bomb at the oscars.. also not classy.

some of my favorite gowns of the night:

halle in marchesa. pretty much perfection.

this gown looked better on screen but mila looked GORRRRRGEOUS in this elie saab.
love the color, love the lace detail. and her body's just amazing.

thank yous that stuck--

"My beautiful love, Benjamin Millepied... who has now given me my most important role of my life." --Natalie Portman

Christian Bale saying his thanks, including his young daughter, "who's taught me more than I'll ever be able to teach her."

the oscars remind me of KCN, and make me think about how i could see myself producing one of these one day.

a girl can dream--

time to sleep.

the way he looked at her

my immediate team at RL went out to short hills, new jersey today for a store trip. katy, who is the current head of our team, now pregnant with her first child told us that her husband, pat might meet us for lunch.

it was our first time meeting pat (me, emma, and kennedy's), and this was my impression of him: you could just see by the way he looks at her, the way his face lights up when he talks about her that he. just. absolutely. ADORES. her.

it was sweet, and it makes me smile.

and it's exciting (:

in addition to a good lunch, i also had the best day at work today.
it included: trying on clothes, talking about clothes, talking about why we think things are working about the clothes, why we think some things aren't, buying clothes, looking at how others have merchandised their clothes....

it was a good day.
cheers to the weekend (:

my days, recorded

up until this year i've always had planners to keep track of the days. i'm glad i kept these because now everything's digital (including this blog...)

anyways, a look back into past years' books:

2004-'05: freshman year

lols
oh freshman year.

not sure where 2005-'06 went :(

2006-'07: junior year

i used to paste the sudoku's from newspapers and do them on the train ride

2007-'08: senior year

signing a full time offer, directing KCN, saying goodbyes, graduating--senior year was bittersweet, but i was ready to be done with college for sure.

Summer 2008-'09: 1st year post grad - korea, astoria
i spent 3-4 weeks in korea that summer and wrote down what i did every day. i'm glad i did this because everything comes back to me so easily when i read my notes, my captions, see the stickers..

i pasted cards and tickets from places i went that year. wrote down the names of places so i could learn the subways better while i was in korea

2009-2010: astoria, union square
i feel like i had more weeks where i wrote my outfits out rather than things that i had coming up... x_x

2011: present day - upper east side
a moleskin is perfect for me. the rest of my memories are now in pictures, blogs, my outlook calender...

cheers to fridays.

a reminder

In the past 5 years I:

  • survived Stern and all its craziness, even though I had my doubts at times
  • fell in love for the first time
  • directed my first show
  • became much closer with my sister
  • learned what it means to forgive
  • went through my first breakup
  • have lived in the east village, les, financial district, murray hill, astoria, union square, and most recently upper east
  • learned how much fun it is to live with good roommates, but also the beauty of living alone
  • learned that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides
  • realized that every soul needs to recharge, and learned how to take better care of myself
  • goaled to achieve something better at work, and got it
  • learned that someone might not love you the way you want them to, but it doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have
  • learned how to rely on close friends in ways I didn’t know existed before
  • learned that there’s always a reason to be humble, always a reason to stay grateful

In the next 5 years I want to:

  • always keep family #1 in my life
  • keep loved ones close to my heart, and be able to tell the difference
  • continue to make moves — professionally and personally
  • travel more
  • learn how to love again, and be loved the way I want to be loved
